An immersion course, Italian style

Overview

All four clients were much more confident with their English and had made tangible progress by the end of their courses. It’s weeks like these when we realise what rewarding jobs we have - working with super motivated and committed clients.

Over the Easter period the class-e team had the pleasure of training 4 Italian Lawyers from a specialist Milan Law Firm. Although already proficient level English language speakers, the four wanted the full-immersion experience with us in Wales, to fast-track their language development in a mixture of individual classes and small group work.

Each week we paid a visit to a local Crown Court where we saw a range of criminal cases; from a serious sexual assault, to a witness who didn’t show up at court to give evidence and was imprisoned until 4pm that day! Back in the classroom the clients focused on making their English more natural by using contractions, phrasal verbs and idiomatic language.

The highlight of both weeks was the ‘Friday night cook off’. Both teams cooked pasta for us (well they are Italians!) so we were able to sample Spaghetti Carbonara and Pasta alla Sofrito – both dishes were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by the class-e team.

We can’t wait for the next time….watch this space!
