Sonya Killip

Training Consultant, Co-founder

Hello, I’m Sonya. I’ve been part of class-e since its founding over 5 years ago. I have been very fortunate to work with a range of diverse, interesting and committed clients both in person and online, not to mention being part of a great training team at class-e.

I love to get to know my clients as people with their own ambitions, opinions, dreams and interests. This motivates me to help them develop skills, confidence and pride in using English in their professional and personal lives. I love my native language and with over 15 years of experience I try to bring my knowledge, creativity and passion to my teaching, and provide interesting, fun and supportive training sessions.

I hold:

  • Masters (MA) in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with a distinction,
  • Cambridge DELTA with distinction/merit (specialism in Business English)
  • Higher Education Certificates in English Language and Literature, and Business and Finance

Before changing to a career in English language teaching and training, I worked for 12 years in administrative, sales and supervisory roles in public and private sectors in the UK. It was after a move to Singapore that I earned my first certificate in teaching English, working in private language schools as well as British Council. I spent 15 years living there with my (then) young family, exploring South East Asia and beyond and expanding my knowledge and understanding of different cultures and people, before returning to the UK (Wales) 10 years ago.

In my spare time, you will find me hiking in the beautiful hills and countryside with my two dogs; camping (when the weather is warm enough!); listening to music at home or at live concerts and ‘gigs’, and visiting new places both at home and overseas. I have a wide range of interests including current affairs, animals, nature and the environment.
